Technology Trend - eSports!
Playing video games competitively... for money? Not long ago, this would be considered a blasphemy. Today, the eSports community is alive and growing at exponential rates. Competing with the prize pools and viewership numbers of professional sports like football, baseball, and basketball, eSports across the board and becoming a mainstream form of competition and entertainment for the younger generation. Professional eSport tournaments for games like Call of Duty and Counter Strike have been making enormous strides in becoming mainstream as they have both recently been showcased to the world as official X-Games events where teams competed for medals! Other eSports, like DOTA 2 and League of Legends have had tournaments with prize pools that combat those of professional golf tournaments. eSports are going to change media as we know it very soon. No longer will we be stuck to seeing only basketball and other sports on ESPN, soon we will see coverage of eSports teams and their events!

Technology Trend - Ambient Computing!
Machines can now do annoyingly time consuming jobs that people have been stuck doing for years. Thats right, people will never have to place an order to refill the pretzels that ran out in the vending machine! All jokes aside, ambient computing is a very practical technology trend. The implementation of sensors, devices and artificial intelligence to our every day lives can increase people's productivity incredibly. Back to the vending machine example, businesses will no longer have to make someone call up a supplier and spend multiple minutes on the phone placing orders for snacks when they can be doing so much more important work. Now, the machine will be able to sense that it has run out of something, or running low on something for that matter, and place an order without any human interference! Ambient computing will cut out so many jobs that are so menial but need to be done!

Washing machines and ovens have minds of their own! There has recently been an IT breakthrough that allows typical household appliances to have the ability to adjust to different scenarios by themselves, with no human interaction! This is a huge up and coming innovation that will change people's every day lives for the better. Ovens will be able to adjust temperatures if they get dangerously hot. Technology Trend - 3D printing!
3D printing has recently taken the world by storm, becoming incredibly mainstream over the past year or two. A few years ago, if someone was asked about 3D printing they would know very little about it, as it was incredibly expensive to purchase and use a 3D printer, only big time companies had them. Now, 3D printing is easily accessible for anyone that wishes to dabble in it. People can create their own models and figures on their computer and print them out, to scale, in their own homes if they do so choose!

Technology Trend - Cloud Computing
One of the most stressful things to deal with as a student is losing something you have been working on for so long because of a technical difficulty. Well, cloud computing is the perfect solution to this problem. Now, instead of saving one's work constantly to their hard drive, computers are able to save it all as it is being completed, in real time! Cloud computing is remarkable, not only does it save students' lives, but it also is a pretty nifty tool for businesses to use. Businesses can save all of their reports safely to an external cloud and they can be accessed by anyone with the proper credentials from anywhere in the world!

Fired Over Facebook
The story, to me, is not surprising at all. In today's world there are so many people posting so many different things for everyone to see, so the fact that someone posted something that their employer did not agree with is not very shocking. The employer's reasoning behind the termination of their relationship was that the company need not be involved with public controversy. The firing was legal, employers, especially those in private companies, have the right let their employees go for whatever reasons they want to. There is no such thing as total privacy on the internet, as the man in the video now knows very well. Everywhere someone goes, does, or clicks on the internet leaves a digital footprint, which essentially is the internet's way of identifying the fact that someone was viewing a certain page or, in this case, posting a certain post. So, regardless of how strong someone's privacy settings may be, there are always ways of seeing what they did and where they went on the internet. I would not have any advice for the man in the video, in all honesty, I am a firm believer in the fact people have the right to do and say whatever they want on the internet. I think everyone should know their boundaries with regard to what they post though. There is nothing stopping an employer from firing someone or even a college from denying a student admission over a post they made on the internet. Even though there are not necessarily legal implications because people have the right to free speech, what they post on the internet can still cause them a lot of troubles. If I were to say anything to the man in the video, it would be post whatever he wants but keep in the back of his head what may happen as a result of it.
Waitress Fired After Complaining About Bad Tips On Facebook
This is another story that does not surprise me. A woman was fired after complaining about being poorly tipped by customers in her waitressing position. Complaining about a job in front of the boss is enough reason to be fired, so what is the difference if the complaint is posted on Facebook? This employer had every right to cut ties with the employee, she made the restaurant look bad on the internet so she deserved to be let go.
